Dr. Philippe Henry, Ph.D
Dr. Henry is fascinated by the interaction of humans, their living counterparts and the abiotic environment. His recent research focuses on using genomic and bioinformatic tools to shed light on the health of our planet and ourselves. While his interest in cannabis goes back two decades, he has only recently applied his expertise in population genetics to shed light on the population structure in the genus Cannabis, thanks in part to the open source policies implemented by some cannabis science solutions companies such as Medicinal Genomics.
Another key interest of his is understanding how individual variation in genes underlying the endocannabinoid system influence our responses to cannabis as a recreational drug and therapeutic substance.
Philippe is passionate about communication and enjoys synthesizing recent research findings and delivering this knowledge to a broad audience. He is a lecturer at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus and Adjunct Professor at the University of Northern British Columbia. Philippe also sits on the scientific advisory board for Cannalogix Alternative Medicines and Pure Hemp Naturals, two Kelowna BC based Agri-tech companies and also contributes cannabis science pieces to Canlio.com, a Cannabis technology company based on British Columbia.
